Does credit card debt that sold to another company get removed from my credit after 7 years?

I live in GA, and it was a fraudulent HSBC card (identity theft). HSBC sold the account to Atlantic Crd, and for awhile I was hearing from their attornies, JP fry and associates, but they gave up when I never sent them any money. The credit agencies (experian and transunion) are refusing to remove it from my report, and I am tired of dealing with it. Will this, like credit card debt, disappear from my credit record in 7 years? Or do I need to keep fighting this?
I’m fine with going another couple of years with it on my record if it will just go away on its own eventually. Also, is the 7 years from the time “I” defaulted on the credit card, or did their selling the account to Atlantic CRD advance the date?
This will also be helpful in my understanding my husband’s credit card debt, which is now older than 7 years.
I did claim fraud. They just said they didn’t have enough evidence that it was, and weren’t going to remove it from my record. But that isn’t my question.
If someone can ANSWER THE QUESTION I ASKED I’d really appreciate it.
I did tell the credit card issuer it was fraud, that is when they sold it to the other company. Then the other company called and I told them I told the credit card company it was fraud and the guy on the phone said “oh, no wonder they sold it to us”. Because otherwise I have perfect credit.
If it is truly fraud, you should ask the credit agencies to prove the debt. It’s a bit late now to claim fraud if you didn’t report to the credit card issuer.
I agree if it’s truly fraud you should fight it. Once credit cards get reported to agency, if it is less that $5,000 and you try to fight it they will more than likely just remove it from your credit because it will cost the agency more to take you to court. But yes if you wait after 7 years it will remove from your credit history.
in 7 years your good… but be careful they are sneaky and always find a way of making it longer… i hate credit cards!
