identity theft question for Michigan residents…?

I have this friend who lives in Michigan (kalamazoo county). She was recently charged with identity theft and must turn herself in in a few days. This is her first offense of identity theft. What is the penalty she will most likely receive? And what are the best and worst case scenarios?

There is no doubt that she will be required to make restitution to the person’s that she defrauded. In addition, depending on her record, she could get anything from simple probation to jail or prison terms. She could also face electronic monitoring where a tracker is placed on her ankle, allowing her to have some freedom to work, shop, etc.
Not knowing the amount involved it is difficult to make a prediction in regard to her situation, many sentences are dependent upon the amount that was stolen, she could be facing a third strike law, you stated this was the first time for identity theft, leading me to believe that she had been arrested before.
So without knowing the facts, the only thing that I can say is that Prosecutors have started prosecuting identity theft cases with a vengeance in some jurisdictions because of the people who have been forced to suffer at the hands of identity theft.
I would make sure that she is at the jail on time, maybe even a little early, she doesn’t want to be late or not show up, because that will result in her becoming a fugitive from justice, and an arrest warrant will be issued. Making her situation a lot worse.
